About Moore Point

With the Georges River at its heart, Moore Point will be an exciting new riverside precinct, helping to define Liverpool’s future. It is the place where the vision for a Western Sydney Parklands City will become a reality.

Over the next 40 years, the area, which is currently industrial and unused riverside land, will be opened up to create a new city; one which builds upon the uniquely diverse community of Liverpool itself. It will become an integral part of the new Liverpool – an internationally respected river city. Moore Point will offer a diversity of jobs, accommodation, cultural experiences, healthy living and well-being, open space and active transport.

In April 2023, the project took another step forward as the Planning Proposal for Moore Point received a Gateway Determination from the Department of Planning. The project team are working through the conditions outlined in the Gateway Determination to allow the Planning Proposal to go on Public Exhibition later in the year.

The Vision

Moore Point is at the heart of Liverpool’s story as it evolves to a new future. It will be a unique example of sustainable waterfront urbanisation, taking its place alongside the world’s great river cities.

Moore Point is already a place of natural beauty and riverside ecology, which will be further enhanced by green and blue connections and corridors. Three new river crossings, and connections to existing under-utilised assets like Haigh and Light Horse Parks and Lake Moore, will help deliver the project vision.

People will also walk to their local school, shops, restaurants and cafés, and cultural facilities and engage with the many small businesses which will be a part of the precinct and places to work locally. They will be able to cross over the river to the new Liverpool CBD as well as walking to work at the new medical and education facilities developing across the river.

The vision is heavily influenced by a long line of local and state policy documents, and we are turning those policies into reality in Moore Point now. Planning permission is being sought so that this once in a generation opportunity in Sydney’s fastest growing and most culturally diverse city can be fully realised.

Moore Point showcased at PIA 2022 NSW Conference

Moore Point, the largest private urban renewal precinct in Australia, was showcased at this year’s Planning Institute of Australia (PIA) NSW Conference thanks to a presentation from Erika Pawley, Director, Projects at Leamac Property Group.

The presentation focused on the role of the private sector in precinct planning in NSW and Liverpool. Erika outlined how the investment into Moore Point by the two landholders, Leamac and Coronation Property, is helping to drive the future of Liverpool, which will be transformed in the coming decades.

Drawing on international examples and the policy documents released by the then Greater Sydney Commission and Liverpool City Council, the presentation outlined the six key themes currently underpinning the Moore Point development – Natural beauty, Holistic health, Social uplift, Working neighbourhood, Home and Creativity.

These themes and the wider vision, in which thousands of new homes and jobs will be created in the next three decades, have helped to shape a collaborative spirit between the two major landowners and policy makers at both the local and state level, seen as critical for the future success of the project.

The presentation finished on how the private sector-led development of Moore Point will facilitate new connections to the core area of Liverpool, including the Growing Liverpool Innovation Precinct, the local schools, the Universities and the Liverpool CBD. A series of visuals of how Moore Point could look were also shared, providing the assembled audience with a taste of what private and public sector collaboration could deliver in this transformational precinct wide project.

The slides presented can be viewed here.
